Terms of Service

Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using BrewOS firmware, cloud services, or website, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our services.

License

BrewOS firmware is licensed under the Apache 2.0 License with Commons Clause. This means you are free to use, modify, and distribute the software for non-commercial purposes. Commercial use requires a separate licensing agreement.

Use of Services

Permitted Use

You may use BrewOS to:

  • Control and monitor your personal espresso machine
  • Access the BrewOS Cloud for remote monitoring
  • Modify and customize the firmware for personal use
  • Contribute to the open-source project

Prohibited Use

You may not:

  • Sell or commercially distribute BrewOS without authorization
  • Use the service to harm or exploit others
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
  • Reverse engineer the cloud platform

Safety and Liability

Important: Installing BrewOS involves working with electrical systems that can be dangerous. You assume all risks associated with installing, modifying, or using BrewOS on your espresso machine.

  • Always disconnect power before working on your machine
  • Ensure proper grounding and electrical safety
  • Follow your machine manufacturer's guidelines
  • Consult a qualified electrician if unsure

Disclaimer of Warranties

BrewOS is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee that the software will be error-free or that it will meet your specific requirements. Use of BrewOS may void your machine's manufacturer warranty.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, BrewOS and its contributors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to damage to your espresso machine, property damage, personal injury, or loss of data.

Cloud Services

BrewOS Cloud is provided as a convenience and may be modified, suspended, or discontinued at any time. We strive to maintain service availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access.

Intellectual Property

The BrewOS name, logo, and branding are trademarks of the BrewOS project. The source code is licensed separately under the Apache 2.0 License with Commons Clause.

Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of our services after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
